Nature's Variety Announces Recall
As you probably already know, Nature’s Variety is a company that makes high-quality cat food. We have fed our kitties Nature’s Variety foods on and off for years, and we’ve even recommended it.
However, recently Nature’s Variety has, as the result of a customer alerting them to a problem, issued a voluntary recall of a particular batch of its Instinct® line.
Here’s an excerpt of what they say on their website:
The affected product is strictly limited to a single batch of Organic Chicken Formula with the “Best if Used By” date of 10/04/13. This includes:
• UPC# 7 69949 60137 1 – Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula medallions, 3 lbs. bag
• UPC# 7 69949 70137 8 – Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula medallions, 27 lbs. case
• UPC# 7 69949 60127 2 – Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula patties, 6 lbs. bag
• UPC# 7 69949 70127 9 – Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula patties, 36 lbs. case
The Good News
While it is distressing that plastic which may have injured a cat eating food from this batch was present at all, we are extremely grateful that no kitties were injured and that Nature’s Variety responded so quickly and forthrightly to the problem.
Even so, we felt we should mention this to you, our community members, just in case any of you had food from this batch and were unaware of the recall.
If you have anything to add, we would love to hear from you in the comments below.
May you and your kitties be well,
Siamese Cat Spot
